Stopped by the local Menards today for some items; decided to check pellets. Ozark Hardwood Pellets for $3.97/bag.
That works out to $198.50/ton. 18 Tons in stock, I bought 3 tons. They will deliver them Monday, on the pallets, to my barn for $55.
Total cost: $216.83/ton + tax. In this land where folks think pellets are rabbit items, this is a good deal.
I have burned almost 2 tons of the OHPs so far this year. Other than a little high on the ash content, I am pleased. No more $400 electric bills.
I checked on the way home, the local Rural King has the exact same pellet for $275/ton. No delivery. (With only a Ford Ranger, it takes a long time to move a ton of pellets.
(Does this purchase make me a pig?)
