After reading peoples replies regarding the question of smoothing pellets in their stove's hopper, I began to wonder if people have the same obsession with the condition of their pellet stash. Do you neatly stack your pellet bags? Do you just leave them on pallets as delivered ? Do you have a seperate structure for your pellets or do they share the garage with your dog ? Are you obsessed with counting your stash ? Do you allow strangers and family members to even touch them ? Mine are palletized as delivered but I have to admit that I'm a newbie and haven't had time to develope an attachment.
Hmmm.
Mine don't get delivered I either pick them up
25 bags at a time in my Jeep or friends bring
me a ton in their truck. Either way they do
get restacked on my porch and in the garage.
I restack them the same way they are stacked
on pallets. It works well for me.
My dog does not stay in the garage. The pellets
share the garage with tools and my motorcycle
and they seem to coexist quite well.
I'm not obsessed with keeping count but do try
to have 3 1/2 to 4 tons on hand going heading into
the season so at first I do know how many bags I've got.
Wouldn't care if anyone wanted to but 7 yrs into burning
and nobody has asked to fondle them yet.
I've got work to do and no time to obsess about heating fuel
which is why I choose pellets so I don't have to worry about it.
I don't count the bags as they go in the stove. I know how
many I used in a given season just because I am aware
of how many I started out with. Anything other than that
naaaa I don't have the desire to waste time on calculating.
