Just purchased a new auger motor for a quadra-fire 1200 free standing. The wiring on the new motor doesn't match the old one. There were only two wires on the old motor. Both Black. The new motor has four wires. Two white which were connected together and then a black and a red wire. I have hooked the White wires up to the white wires on the stove and the black wire to the other wire on the stove. The auger comes on initially then when the auger starts cycling the motor keeps alternating direction. Any Suggestions.
    Thanks
    Mike

I just used one of these motors on a SantaFe. I comes with directions for the 1200. Read them.

There were some extra wire harnesses in the box along with a new mounting bracket for certian stoves.

To make a long story short I have figured it out. When I purchased the new motor from quadrafire it did not come with any paper work or additional wires. I called quadra and tech seemed like she had no idea what I was talking about. She finaly told me there should have been a wire with a capsitor on it. She said she would fax me the directions. In the mean time I was able to find a copy of the service manual on line for the 1200. The motor should have came with a harness but it did not have a capasitor on it. The one with the capasitor was for a service tech to check it with their control box. The new control box has the capsitor built in. The white wires go to the shoite wires. The red wire goes to the red wire with white stripe and the black wire goes to the red wire on the stove. I just made a jumper and it it works great. PS she called back two days later and said she was now ready to fax the directions. If any one needs a copy of the service manual let me know and I can post the link. This is the service manual not just the manual that quadra posts on it site. Thanks

Sounds like you got an old part that was laying around someplace. The new replacement motors come with the capacitor on the harness and directions. I think they made the part number for JUST the motor "obsolete" and you have to order the kit for some time now. At least it worked out in the end.
