Is rain water good to use in a wood boiler system with storage? If it's good, why? or wood if it's bad, why?

I googled "rain water chemistry," and it seems that most rain water is fairly acidic, which means corrosive for a boiler system. It also may be polluted with a variety of other chemicals. Whether rain water or some other water source, I would go with appropriate water treatment, perhaps having the water chemistry tested first. Key elements to consider are nitrite, pH, hardness, dissolved solids, iron, total alkalinity, and probably some other things.
