Does anyone know how to remove the surround on the Hearthstone Morgan? It is not very clear in the manual. Does the surround lift straight up vertically or pull out horizontally? Thanks.

Just lifts up approx 1" then out. Its heavy but fairly easy.

The bracket that holds the surround to the insert can slide in/out a bit. You might find it easier to pull the surround toward you for an inch or two and then lift.

It shouldn't move in & out if properly tightened!

Why not?

There is no reason to have the bolts so tight that the bracket doesn't slide; the weight of the surround is taken up by the levelers and not the bracket. If the bracket bolts are finger tight the bracket is stable but can be slid to remove the surround. It's a bit easier this way and I can see no way it could be detrimental.
