where the log sets in the bottom of the X I believe its 21 in. I measure with the saw in my hand from the bottom of the bar to the ground arms fully extended, so when your done with your cut your arms are lock out.
 
I used (3) 1/4-20 carriage bolts on mine instead of the dowel.
It's a little easier to carry folded up.
Fits in the tractor bucket, too. (doesn't always stay in there, but it fits)
I'm cutting some younger oaks on site, so it comes in handy.

Just a third X brace in the middle instead of those two Vs.
