Came across 4 of these the other day and thought they
looked interesting.

I believe they are from an old time
NG hot water heating systems. The inlets are not pipe
thread but match up with a 1 1/4" iron pipe union
or 2" emt coupler thread.. ...

I measured with a twine the outer tube to be 19ft in
length. Pretty heavy in weight.

Any guess as to the their usefullness as a HX in a
500 gal tank? 4 in a series??? Dan

There's a total of three tubes in each one, 3/4" with 1 1/4" inch connectors, maybe
30=40' of tube in each one. ?

The origional heaters were cast iron. they came out
of an old motel, one per room.
These ran the DHW and a couple of units
of base board. No circ pumps just
convection with an expansion tank up high. Very
basic hot water heat. No insulation leaky windows ect.
they threw out a fair bit of heat.

I was thinking a couple of these with a small circ
pump to give some flow around them. Or just
get the copper tube and get on with it...
