Last Sunday our church had a family skating event and of course I couldn't wait to get out and have some fun. I played ice hockey years ago and can skate pretty well...in hockey skates. Well the toe picks on the figure skates proved to be my undoing and down I went, hip then chest. X-rays today confirmed a fractured rib <> . So there go my plans for cutting this weekend.

As a side note, I skated fine it was the falling that did me in. :).

Well, to be more precise, it was the sudden stop at the end of the fall that gotcha'.<>
    Glad it wasn't worse.

Broken ribs only hurt when you move, breathe, or hold still. Get back out there to cutting.

You take care of yourself! That old wood will wait for you to get back on your feet. I may be close enough to lend a hand, but I can't do anything until mid-week next week. Let me know!

Dammit fireview, you don't need that rib to hold onto a chainsaw......tell the doc to cut it out. There's wood to be cut.....

Honestly, take it easy brother. From the immortal wise words of the legendary Kenny Rogers......."There'll be time enough for cutting, when the healing's done....", or something like that....;)

Thanks everyone! I'll give time, I'm in good shape as far as wood goes so it's going to wait. I does put a big hit on my half marathon training though.

That is what they say...it is not the fall that hurts...it is the landing.

or as the conversation went between the patient and the Doctor went.......Patient: " Doctor, it hurts when I breath" Doctor: " no problem, I can fix that" Patient: "that is great!! how?". Doctor: " Stop breathing"

That's exactly why it is so good to be ahead on the wood cutting so just relax and watch the fire.

I used to play ice hockey many years ago too; a few years back a friend of mine had a skating party for his boy's birthday and I rented some skates at the rink. OF COURSE they didn't have hockey skates in my size so I had to use the ones like you explained...I looked like I was never on skates before! Can't recall the amount of times that I fell, so frustrating!! <>

Take your time and heal up-there's plenty of time to get the wood in.

The worst part is that I also have bronchitis, which I wasn't letting slow me down as far as cutting goes. The coughing about killed me. I cut last weekend and only had problems when I stopped. I guess I shouldn't have stopped cutting to go skating.
