friend called and asked if i anted some walnut in his moms yard...it was already buck so i took it......split it up and stacked it today....

i love walnut.
the look, the smell, the heat, the sound of it. really straight grained pieces i'll toss to the side for knife handles, pipe stems, bow risers or other assorted projects.

lot of good straight grained stuff in this...ive never burned it...i hear its comparable to maple
 
Makes for some pretty firewood.

Not as good as hard maple but better than soft maple. I'd compare it to cherry.
