I love just about everything about burning wood except stacking it. Now don't get me wrong, I love it after it is stacked......makes me feel good. But the stacking just isn't fun, and I was afraid that it was going to be less fun with my bad back........:eek: I was right.. ::-);ex All that bending really hurts. It's going to take a little longer this year, but I got some done today.

I love the stacking phase, because I know the processing is done.
I really enjoy walking around the stacks during the summer.

I enjoy the stacking too but then again my back hasnt been bothering me, I also take a walk through my stacks everyday just to get a sniff of freshly cut wood, good for the soul.

    Nice stacks Chief!
I stack as I split. If I had to do it all at once I would be miserable.

Yep, I split into the trailer instead of the ground, then take the trailer to the stacks and leave it until I have the energy to stack it. That could be a minute later or the next day.
Saves on all that extra bending over to pick up the wood I already had in my hands.
Steve, the fact you're even doing this is fantastic.
ISeeDeadBTUs, did she even have a chain on there? Man, even I could keep up with her.

I stack them right where I split them.

Steve, bad back or not, you did an excellent job.

Thanks all! Some good ideas. I think I may start splitting/stacking.....good idea. Break it up a little instead of everything all at once. After 40 years of this stuff, I still get new ideas here. I didn't take a pic of the splitting stack, but it was pretty daunting, after a whole winter of cutting and splitting. I will quit complaining about the back eventually, but thanks to everyone for putting up with it until I do.:( Oh, and in case no one noticed, that is a Dennis Stack ==c He is coming to see that baby this summer!

I just split and stacked a load last week end ,I thought I was gonna be able to take it easy for a liitle while.. Today while I was at work , a local tree service calls and ask if I could take a load of wood from them.OOOHHHHH man they brought a huge load of ash and oak logs.I'm gonna be busy for a while.

I don't know Steve. At a friend's house the last couple days rebuilding their bathroom, and found some rounds that have obviously been in a couple stacks for a looooong time. In the shade, no wind, no sun, covered with leaves.
    Not pretty.

That is true. My son gave his neighbor some firewood for their fireplace, several years ago. It is still all in the same heap and never been touched. <>

I agree, stacking bother my back the most. It is the repetitive bending. I have a few tricks to make it easier but none takes all the hurt out of it...
