Just finished a ton of NEWP, messy pellet and lots of clinks. Graduated to Dragon Mountain, nice hot burn, no clinks still a little messy but a finer mess, but learning that they all get messy.

CC, If you want to beat the Bear at a clinker, You might need to cheat some. Try running 50/50 pellets/corn mix and see what you get. I tried that mix with my Quad and had success, But needed a jack hammer to clean the pot. As Eric would say don't try this if the stove and vent are not corn rated. Use of inappropriate fuel voids warrenty and homeowners insurance

Jay, Didn't they warn you about needing some oyster shell when you use corn? It is just like raising eggs without the girls getting plenty of calcium, sort of makes a mess of things.
Meneillys Woodland Products said:The Tree Cycle pellets seem to have dirt in the pellets that is turning to glass in the fire pot making the coral like clinker. They use ground up stumps to make the pellets. I am going to call them up and let them know because we have had some complaints about them. The self cleaning stoves seam to handle them but I get a softball sized clinker after 8 hours of burning the tree cycle.

These are exactly the type of clinkers I'm getting with the TreeCycles. I wish I didn't have to run through the rest of the ton with this issue but live and learn I guess. I'm sick and tired of running into these types of problems every year. Next year I'm buying the best I can afford. I'm also sick and tired of the "Premium" stamp companies roll out on the bags when they clearly aren't "Premium".

I seem to get 'em when I don't eat enough fiber!

slvrblkk said:I'm getting very large clinkers from the Treecycles I'm currently burning. I've been burning a bag or two here and there of Firesides and Winter Wamth (which I love) and haven't had any clinkers with those two brands. I got a dirty burn from the Firesides but no clinkers. I burned a bag of Somersets a while ago but didn't get any clinkers with it...was a bit ashy though. It might just be the pellets. Can you get a hold of any other "premium" brand?
