"The gift that keeps on giving"

.....Probably words we have all heard before but what do those words mean to you???

Charity, good will and a spirit of giving come to mind right??? Gifts are exchanged around the holidays and we like to think pleasant thoughts...

...Where we live in the nation in our communities....is home right??? And I think I've heard something to the effect of "Charity and good will start at home and in the community"...

Around the holidays we give thanks for what we have... We like to "share in our good fortune" right????

Some folks choose to "Give something back to the community"...

It might be a buck or two in a red kettle, a donation to support adoption or choose your favorite charity...

....How about just some "pocket change" in a boot???

Years ago my family "lost everything in a house fire"... material possesions...not important. We were safe.

When I'm driving and I see a firefighter trying to raise money to help out...

I give a few bucks...

...or at least some pocket change.

As a chosen profession...They do a difficult job...Hard to imagine...

I can't even imagine how hard their job is...

...Someone gave me a bag of teddybears once because they were moving...they couldn't take everything with the family...but didn't want to see a teddybear thrown away...

"I'm sure you will do something good..."

...And then a thought or two went through my mind.

... To see a child crying after a traumatic event in their life??? I would want to give that child something...

... because I was given something.

I put those thoughts...into action....

As a way of saying "Thank you"...

...To the men and women who "give something back to the community...all year long"

..."Teddybears for Timmy"

....Thats what I would like all proud fathers out there to think of.

My father was always too busy...but a fireman took the time to talk to me about "How to treat a lady...open a car door and someday you will meet the right woman for you"...

Kids need role models... I'm glad mine was a fireman.

A fireman took the time to talk to a little boy...

If you are really too busy to take a moment or two out of your day for a child....be thankfull a fireman always has time for children...

...As a way of saying "Thank You..."

"Teddybears for Timmy"...

....How valuable is your time????

....Having a beer with a friend...Named Tim... talked some sense into me about talking to my dad after many years...

Would it really hurt to put petty differences aside for the holidays???

Maybe offer a kind word... Take a minute or two out of your day..

..To help a child...????

If you can't do that....Could you just choose your words a little more carefully...
