Anyone have stove top and IR? Care to compare temps?
I have 2 on the front of my insert both reading 700 IR has front of stove at 568
... Walls and everything else reads 76 as does furnace thermostat ...
So I want to know which is right which is wrong... Time to put thermostats in the oven....
But that's not to say they are only accurate up to a certain temp?

Quick update ... Set oven to 400 both went to 450
Set oven to 500 one jumped to 550 when the oven was at 433 the other read 525
Oven is at 480 now both are 600!!

At 500 both were over 650 .... IR had the pan at 510-527
Stove read 500

Interesting ......

Threw my thermometers in the garbage and only use the IR gun now.

I have a vc stovetop thermometer. I borrowed an ir gun the other day. Temps were pretty consistent up until 500ish. Ir gun read almost 50 degrees higher at that point. Not bad I guess.

I've got a magnetic temp gauge and an IR gun. I trust the IR gun more than the magnetic gauge. First time the magnetic pegged at over 800 I liked to soiled myself till the IR gun told me 650.
