so this was my first year burning at the house all went/going good BUT

the basement is COLD which gives the first floor a "draft"

3 sides are buried under ground and one side is level witht he basement wall so actually one side is exposed to the weather

i saw the tractor sullpy 499 stove seems its big enought to do the basement and once i check out my 2nd chimmny in the spring i might buy one and heat the basement on those cold days and i figure it will help thingas out on the first floor

Suggestion: For roughly the same price keep a watch at Home Depot for clearance prices this time of year on either the Englander 13 or 30.

I agree. Additionally, I would go with a larger stove. It only accepts 16" splits and only has a claimed 1,100 sq ft heating area. That means it probably about the size of the Intrepid. I don't think an Intrepid size stove would do very well in the basement due to the low heat output and frequent reloads.

I am heating a walkout like yours. If you keep the basement door closed you might get away with it. But if you let the heat migrate up the stairs no amount of BTUs will get you there.

im not looking to "heat" the basement but i want to get it up say 15-20 deg warmer on a 10 degree day its like 40ish down there so if i can take out the chill i think it will help a lot and i have the door closed to go upstairs also

This is how we heat our entire home. And the basement is the same make up.

I agree with some of the posts, get the englander. I own the US Stove 1100B and i am not happy with it. I am getting the Englander 30 very soon. They have it a my local HD for 669. for that price you cannot go wrong with tthat stove. I wouldnt reccomend the US Stove 1100B.
