Agreed. I think it's hickory also. Maybe ash if limbs are opposite.
 
Looks like that is the one. I looked back in my book and read that red hickory is a variety with 7 leaves, and shaggier bark, might be a possibility.
 
All the hickories here in NY have nice large nuts at the moment and are pretty easy to spot. Though this one doesn't have any samaras either... The ashes have dumped loads of samaras in the past few months. That could help as well in addition to the opp/alt branching.
