Using a Stove Pipe Thermometer on the Stove Top???

Isn't that the way. The new thermometer in my avatar reads within about 15 degrees all the way up to 700. After that, it just goes stupid. I like to try and keep my stove top under 775 or so. Since this thing basically siezes up at temps above 700, I moved it to a place that runs about 100 degrees cooler on my stove top and just tell the wife to keep it out of the red zone.
