I have a fireplace insert with a 6" diameter vent with a masonry chimney in excellent condition. The chimney is 12"x 12" and the total length is 15'. I could run a short flex pipe up into the chimney but I would rather run it up to the top and have it capped.

I could put in flex pipe but the run is nearly straight. Could I put in a double pipe and have a short flex pipe connect the insert to the double? If it is possible how would I support the weight. Ultimately, would there be any savings?

A lot of questions.
