Hello to all, I was pretty busy this summer didn't visit site much. But winter is coming and it time to talk about the burning season.I have heard alot of good and bad things about Vermont Castings on here in the past but I could not let this deal go by.I found a 2 year old Defiant 1945 in great shape on Craig's list for $600.We took out the P.E.Vista a very good stove but just a bit small for our needs.Small this Defiant is not ! I followed all the recommended installation suggestion's for V.C. and so far this Stove has been Awesome.no back puffing or problems of any kind. I Think dry good hardwood is the key! Love the longer burns and the radiant heat is awesome this our first Modern Cast iron stove !

I put this in the pellet Mill insted of the Hearth Room>>> Anyone know how to move this??? Please move if you can

i thought u were gonna say that ur turning it in to a pellet stove! lol

yah, shure, dontcha know- them moderaters there can move a post quicker than grease thru a bear.

lol, wife is a Yooper, I'm allowed.

Had a Defiant at one time- at 55k btu, that thing will keep even the draftiest domicile warm. Love the top load, too. Keep the fire nice and hot, otherwise the cat will die an early death!

Throw a bag a pellets in there for the hell of it while you are posting in the pellet and corn crib............. LOL

Good luck with it, I had one before I made the move to pellets.
