wondering where people have picked up high temp insulation like mineral wool or similar for above blockoff place and to insulate around inside of fireplace behind insert (was reading a post by rhone concerning this).

    Any help?

You might try a layered approach - ceramic wool toward the heat source, fiberglass outside. That's what I did on my chimney liner.

You have to buy like $35. worth, but McMaster-Carr sell the stuff - they also sell just about everything else you might need to build a nuclear submarine!

Some plumbing places also have it - use Kaowool as a brand name for example.

I got mine at a drywall supply, I asked for fire stop insulation.
