I need to replace my old whits gasket. All the info I can find say it takes a 1/2 gasket, the store only sells 5/8. Can replace it with the 5/8?

Order online.

Use the size the factory says

Use high temp Silicone in the groove, stick the rope in the groove then shut the door.

The silicone will cure and hold the gasket well.

After the silicone has cured, open the door and if need be you can do a bit of gooping where the rope ends meet.

Let cure before closing the door again.

Good to go.

Tried online? Farm supply stores, maybe even can get the length needed from a fireplace shop as they handle bulk gasketing.
