When I first start up, after the heat starts to build up, the blower above the door blows warm,
but above the corners of the door it's much cooler. Is that normal.

You must have a old Whitfield Advantage where the heat comes out on the top corner. I've had a number of these stoves
and it will take a long time for these vents to get hot. I think this is why they changed the design of the stove. The side vents were only used for a few years. I hope this helps.
