What do you guys prefer in terms of Chimney Brushes, wire or poly? I have a new steel liner (with ribs, not smooth) and heard that the poly brushes are a big easier on the liner. Is this true? The other issue is that I have a 5.5 inch liner and was wondering if I could buy a 6 inch liner and clip the ends of it (say a 1/4inch) off to make it 5.5. Any thoughts?

My chimney is pretty long (say 21 feet or so), pretty straight, by the way...

Poly and yes you can clip it that's what I had to do

Make sure u don't clip it too much though.

Just like above said poly, I have seen 5.5 inch poly chimney brushes. That might help.
