    Hickory Holes

My splits of hickory I noticed today have holes bored in to them. Obviously an insect, is this common? It seems to only be on the hickory which is mixed with other hardwood (red oak, cherry, ash, maple). Photo attached.

    Wood Supply

We had a tree on the property that had an active honey beehive. We wanted to keep the hive so we monitored the tree for potential hazards above. Finally, there was no activity for more than two years so we decided to salvage the tree for heating purposes. This is what we found when we opened it up.

Love of wood burning, and insects

This photo depicts a tree on our property that had honey bees going to and from the opening. The tree was in decline for several years and we wanted to preserve the wild/natural hive. We noticed zero bee activity and cut it down due to hazards. This is what we found when we salvaged it.
