106 degrees warmer in the house than outside

I just came in from the night feeding of the King in the shop, temp is less than -22 as the digital thermometer says OFL. Inside is 84 degrees in the warm room. Sure feels good after all this cold. I sure love my Blaze King, KIngs!!

I can relate to that. My king has been keeping the house around 70, on the high side of mid range on the stat.

At -22, what is the "chill factor", I heard it was windy also.

WE sit in a basin. As a rule the wind is quite mild compared to the rest of the windblown state. It is still calm, we had a bunch of wind when this came in, would hate to even guess what the speed was, 50 ish maybe. Are ya running pine in yer king? I broke out the good stuff in the stash for this cold spell.

In a basin: that's why you're colder than the weather, I looked at on-line, in your area.

Birch 99%. 3 times hotter & longer burns. About the same work to get it. So, when I can, I cut Birch.
I have some spruce but save that for spring & early fall fires or mix some in on a re-start after emptying.
Burning the 3 year old birch now, good & dry.
0 °F here, clear & sunny & 10 in day time (which is short, 5-1/2 hours)

Finished what splitting & stacking I had, today: (sure learning allot on this site, good info here, wish I'd known some of this stuff 30 years ago)
Insulated bibs, 2 layers of polar fleece, good stocking cap over my baseball cap;; then down to one layer of fleece & no hat when swinging the maul.
Drink lots of water, cold dry air sucks the water out of you.

Is your king a catalytic?
I just replaced mine 3 weeks ago, old king (1982 w/blower) to new king with catalytic & blower. supposed to burn 30% more efficient. So far, i'm liking it & using less wood.
Hope to get the federal rebate (30% of cost of stove)

Where are ya at stihl?
I guess i need to find a basin to escape the wind.
We are in Rawlins Wyoming, the Continental divide is 2-3 miles from us.
Talk about wind! We have been around -40 wind chills. No fun.
