12" knife-

I need a few knives with a 12" blade, just for cutting bread. A 14" blade length would be a plus.
Anybody know of a source for these? All the long blades over 10" seem to be custom made.

A serrated knife is best for cutting bread. You'll chuckle at this but the amazing Ginsu knife that was advertised on late nite tv worked well for cutting bread. You don't need a fancy knife for this purpose. 10" is more than adequate and a standard size. We have this Chicago knife for general bread cutting:

But if you are dealing with really huge loaves or 12" round cakes, here is a 14" model:

If you want to cut sliced bread in consistent thickness slices you need a bit fancier knife with an adjustable slicing guide. We have a very nice one made in Italy by Montana that I can't find online. But I do see a couple models that should work. Some caveats: you need to cut at the edge of the cutting board and don't try to cut fresh baked bread too thinly. It's too fragile when fresh.

I have used Victorianox serrated knives at my job[baker] for the last 20+years.They are a well made product and have served me well.

Thanks for the link, I have a few 14"er's on the way.
Tom.e, welcome to the forums, and thanks for the input.
I've been farting around with my new router table, making bread slicing fixtures out of red oak and poplar. I wanted to include a long bread knife with the package.
