Got me a 13-nc golden eagle any you guys have one or have had one. My house is just at 1700sqft it's an open floor plan and I was going to put her in a room right off my living room that has big French doors into the living room will it still heat good out in there and thru out the house? I also need a new baffle the fiber board I broke it stick with that or is there something better to use?

The more open a floor plan the better. Does the stove face those french doors into the living room? Whether it does or not (especially if it does) you may find benefit from use of a blower to mount to the stove if it did not come with one.

There are others who have experimented with other types of board instead of the factory baffle, but it's been a while since I've heard any updates on how they are holding up or how the material could be sourced right now (almost think some bought it off of ebay in the past and cut it down to size). Regardless, if you spend the money for the factory unit, and be careful to avoid it while loading the stove, don't whack it with the poker, etc, it should last for years and years.

My englander 30 is on season 5 with it's original baffles.

Yes pen the stove is faceing towards the French doors. You think it will be ok there and add a blower? Thx for the replie I'm trying to cram info and what not before I have to start it up. So are they good stoves as far as burn time and over night fires. U have the 30 is it a lot bigger then the 13.

They are a smaller stove, but folks do get overnight burns from them in my understanding.

I'd say give it a go without the blower and see how things go.

If you think you want to try one, keep your eye out on ebay for someone selling one (some stoves come with a blower but folks sell them if they don't need them) and you might find a deal. Also check or put a wanted post up in the for sale room on this site. If you find that you think one will help, and haven't gotten a really good deal somewhere, you can always buy directly from endlander's website.

Ok thanks alot pen i really cant wait to get started burning and that made me feel alittle better i was thinking putting it there it wasnt going to heat all that well. I do have one of those fans you set on top and it runs by the heat off the stove. Would you rather put single wall pipe from stove to ceiling or double smoke less wall pipe just for better safety? Thanks again this site is great i have been reading alot of old threads and post really good info from a group of good guys

Pen I'm worried about the ash pan cover on this since I'm pretty sure it's home made just a flat peice of steel with a loop welded on it I'm going to just shovel the ash out Bc I don't want it to suck air down there and not shut it off so should I just put a fire brick over it and use that stove glue stuff and put it down to cover the hole. Think that would be better? Thx it don't set flat down over the hole now.

If it's a plug then furnace cement it in...if not maybe cement in in place?

Just put a piece of firebrick in its place. Ashes will fill in around it and seal it on the first burn. Easier to scoop ashes out without that loop in the way.

Ok thx brother Bart that sounds like the best to do then. So no need for the cement. Like I said I was going to shovel them out anyway.

Is this thread about an NC 13?

Just clarifying the golden eagle thingy.

Yeah. It was the old 13 with gold door and legs and air control on top front.

Thanks, BB.

The 13 is going to get 4-6 hours burn time max. 6 - 8 hour heat output. It's an awesome heater, just gotta be ready for the reloads with PRIMO firewood.

One thing I've learned is the firewood cut to 6 -8 " lengths and loaded North/South gives a way better burn time ( and more coals for a refire) than firewood loaded East/ West.

I was wondering about if u could do that to get more wood in for better times. The wood Iv got now has been down and split for almost a year and some cherry for about 8 mounths. I'm trying to find some good wood now to buy to make sure. I'm going to buy a mc meter to help out.
