Hello
I found this old Harman not in use and looking a little neglected!
Luckily it is an Advance-2 which has a manufacturing date of June 1999 Serial # 8617 so it has the newer glass hopper lid, the 4 removable baffles on the back wall of the fire box, the Cast Iron Fire Brick and the optional Log Set in very good condition! The earlier model Advance has only the bottom 2 removable baffles, the vermiculite fire brick and the solid metal hopper lid.
Brought it back to the shop where my assistant and I did a little spiffing up
It was missing one ceramic tile on the top so I scrouged up one and fixed the Log Set bracket that was missing a 10-24 threaded bold by putting in two new ones. Harmans use many 10-24 bolts so I have a bag of them on hand.
1. Replaced the burn pot with the newer 2004 fluted design with new notched flame guide, lytherm gasket and put in a brand new igniter.
2. Cut off the old single paddle impeller and installed a brand new combustion blower and double paddle impeller with a rivet in every petal.
3. The circuit board was old so luckily I had a new one out of a Harman P52i with the software bug that makes it run on a low flame. When the dip switches are set for the Advance the bug is not in the picture so it works fine!
4. Painted the inside with VHT Very High Temp Flame Proof Flat black and the Outside with Stove Bright Satin Black High Temperature stove paint.
5.Changed out the worn brass trim with a new Nickel trim kit!
