Mt Vernon AE startup issues this fall. I plugged my AE stove in recently and immediately got the Auger Jammed code. This unit was running fine when I shut it down last spring. I pulled the auger, vacuumed out the pellets and tried to restart (power off / on) at least a dozen times. The auger runs BACKWARDS and gives the Auger Jammed code every time. Thinking that the auger motor had a bad 'forward' stepper motor and this caused the control board to think it was jammed thereby running it in reverse....I bought and changed out the auger motor yesterday. This did NOT fix it....motor ran in reverse and got the Auger Jammed code.
I had this exact same problem last December, but it came out of it after numerous power re-sets. My control board is a Torrington 7000-330 Rev C manufactured date 32/07.
Besides changing the control board, I am out of ideas. I could swap the wires on the forward / reverse stepper motors on the auger but that seems experimental.
No matter what I try, the auger only runs in reverse and the Auger Jammed code pops up.

I realize this topic has been brought up numerous times, but wanted to get this out there before I spend $$ on a new board.

Thank you.

You did clean the optical eye and the wheel it looks at?
Yes, I pulled the eye and cleaned it. It didn't seem to make a difference. It seems odd that the auger NEVER tries to go forward upon initial startup. I would think if it was going backwards to try and clear a jam that it would start in the correct direction and then reverse. It also stays in reverse for minutes while in startup mode, and then throws the Auger Jam code. If I try to start it up with the optical eye unplugged, it throws the Auger Jam code immediately, not waiting to try to turn the auger (which seems correct to me). I have a new eye and control board on the way, but want to change the correct item since neither are returnable after being used. Not sure if you can electronically troubleshoot the eye itself?
