When we installed our Harmon P68 the only option was to go straight up with a 4"stove pipe. Because of our farm porch. I was told that I didn't need a OAK and reading some of the other threads I'm wondering if I should have installed one. I'm interested what you guys think.

required? no. highly recommended, yes.

oak clearance is never really stated, but should be the same as exhaust in case of burn backs
you can always run a 2nd 2" pipe up and out too. my oak for my insert goes all the way up the chimney too

I was thinking about putting the OAK out behind the stove on the outside wall [Hearth.com] 4" stove pipe through the roof . Oak question.

Should be fine.
