We'll I figure I at least tried, But I just can't find where the smell is coming from. I have been on the phone with Englander a few times and gotten a complete exhaust assembly and have it siliconed on.
All the exhaust joints are sealed. Any other ideas. Someone else here had the same problem and took it back within 90 days. The smell blows up from the back..My wife says my nose is to sensitive..I don't figure these should smoke at all, correct. Maybe I should try another brand. Thanks for all the suggestions...God Bless You.....K

Did you try turning the lights off when the stove is starting up and shining a flashlight on it to see where the smoke is coming from? You will be able to see the smoke flowing towards the exhaust blower.

I probably shouldn't say this, but I work for Lowes, and chances are they'll swap it out for you. Raise enough stink and they'll take almost anything back. Policy does state within 90 days though.

When the stove first starts you're gonna smell some smoke. The pipes are still cold and you don't have a good draft . Everythings still cold. If after everything warms up and you still smell smoke then worry.

Not sure about all stoves, but when using the auto igniter on the PDVC (and probably other brands) the pellets have to be heated to a certain temp for the wood to "burst" into flames. Until this temperature is reached, smoke is going to happen. I've always smelled a slight smoke smell when using the auto ignite. It does go away after a short time.

I have a Harman and I also get a very light smoke smell upon ignition only.
Once it is running, no smell at all.

So a smokey smell is normal when you start up? Where is it coming from? If it is leaking is there combustion gases still leaking when it burning well?

I second that. I have a quadfire CB1200 and have a slight smell of smoke on start up only.

I'll second this second

I have a breckwell and have slight smoke smell everytime @ startup. Smell is usually gone in about 20 minutes. I never smell smoke @ any other time and I do NOT seal my duravent pipe with anything.
