Hi,
I'm working on tearing out my fireplace to make room for my new Quadrafire 4300 Millenium (due to be installed 9/2) and I had a couple questions. First, I have everything tore out except the fireplace and the chimney pipe going up through the ceiling and was wondering how this disconnects from the fireplace? I've removed all of the screws that I can see and the fireplace can pivot on the floor but the pipe is still attached and I cannot get it to break loose. Should I just leave this in place and have the installers help me remove this next week?
My second question really isn't about removing but more of what to do afterwards. A bunch of people I've talked to have told me that I need to put up fireboard on the walls to the sides of the new woodstove. I've looked around and can't find this "fireboard" anywhere and the manual on the stove doesn't mention placing anything on the walls but to just make sure that the stove maintains a certain clearance between it and any walls/flamable surfaces. What do you all suggest?
Thanks for all the help in this forum. Everybodies replies to my topics have helped me really get comfortable with the idea of ripping out this fireplace when at first this was the absolute last thing I wanted to try and do. All in all it has been a pretty fun project.
