The neighbors had several white ash taken down (EAB). He asked if did I want the wood... YES PLEASE. The tree service ground and hauled off the tops. So coming home from work I see this on our upper acre wood yard. WOW! I most certainly have never had it so good! 'Scuse me, but I have to get busy now. My neighbors mower broke down and he ask me if I would mow his lawn.He ask me what I would charge him ,and I told him we could barter some wood, as he has 10 acres of woods with downed trees. He told me I could have all the wood I wanted, how much for the lawn mowen? I need to get down there and do some cutting. It's always nice when you can get it for free... Just not as easy as you got it tho, lol.

Congratulations! You are now a full fledged member of the "You Suck Club!";lol Really, fantastic score. How far ahead will that get you?

i feel like everyone on the forum today is getting lucky with scores

With this, we will be a solid 3 winters ahead. Until today, I was always green with envy over the posts where members have free wood ;dropped off by tree services. Never had that before, except the couple of times I bought wood. Probably will never happen again - just finished sharpening several chains and sitting here thanking my lucky stars. The neighbors are due a big jug of Grey Goose or something... I can never guess how much in cords (real cords) until it's all done and stacked. Wild guess .. maybe 2+ cords???

About how long are those logs?

The logs vary in length from about 8 to 20 feet and anywhere between.

Well
How much did it stack up to be ? LOL :)

Good to have good neighbors, it's a 2 way street

That's not a score, it's the whole game .
Id' guess at least 4-1/2 to 5 cords there.

It'll feel real good to be way ahead with some awesome fire wood.

Now get busy :)

Last log load that I got was 28 pieces of similar length, between 10 and 24" and it came out to just over 5 full cords. If those are two piles that each came off a log truck I think you have close to 10 cords there. That's a lot of wood.

Wow Gark, that is like hitting the mother lode! Now you'll be 3 years ahead which is about the ideal. From this point on all you need to do each year is replace what you burn. In other words, you'll be coasting and not so much hard work but prime fuel for sure. Lucky you!

So I get home from work today and the piles of logs grew.. wowsa! I guess they weren't done yet. Just told the better half that we need a (much) bigger saw. See that big crotch standing up? The widest diameter looks about 38 or 40 inches. Whew![Hearth.com] A gift from next door [Hearth.com] A gift from next door

I gotta say, I've got some sweet deals before and I've seen some sweet deals posted on here, but I think this tops them all. Great score !

Got wood ;? ;lol I guess U do, GREAT SCORE !
Are U going to be splitting it all with a maul ?

Oh boy, here we go. A 461 would do a real good job on that stuff with a 25 or a 28. You might as well throw a splitter in there while you're at it.:p
