I have an older stove at camp that has an 8" pipe opening. My masonary chimney is 7"x7". Can I reduce the 8" pipe coming out of the stove to 6" since the opening in the chimney is 6"? Thanks Pete

some older stoves had an 8" to 6" reduction allowance What does the manufacture's instructions tell you 6" to 8"reduction is almost 50% reduction. I know code does not allow any reduction from the flue collar unless tested and approved in the manufactur's listing manual. If you shop there are still some 8 to 7" reducers. Think about a 50% reduction before you enter the flue is not an ideal setup, beside being non code compliant

It is an older Kodiak Wood Stove with the 2 doors on the front. No info from the maker. No manuel on it either. The opening at the flue is 6". I have 8" up to there then reducedto 6".
