After five years of using my little Acorn wood burner, I discovered the rear blanking plate had fallen out and set in the mortar of our brick hearth! I only noticed when I shone a torch underneath and saw a large round plate. Now it's secured, the stove is a different animal, the heat it gives off is phenomenal.
I presume it was drawing in too much cold air to get to the temperature it reaches now.
