Question:
We have a wood burning fireplace that was converted to gas logs in the basement den. This spring we added central air and gas heat. Because our home is a split-level design, the upstairs becomes to hot while the room with the gas logs is freezing. We are considering adding some type of blower system to our gas logs. Please provide your advice. Thanks!
Answer:
Most vented gas logs cannot easily be fitted with a blower. Peterson makes a small blower that goes with their logs, however it needs quite a bit of room around the logs in the fireplace.
Vented gas logs are designed for looks..not for heat. You'd be better getting your ducts balanced to put more heat downstairs.
