Adjustable DVL pipe

Just a quick question. Can you use and adjustie piece of DVL stove pipe between 2, 45 degree elbows?

The adjustable pipe I'd use would be the 12" one (adjust from 2"-10") to change the offset and rise height.

Yes. You can use an adjustable anywhere in the system. Make sure you use 3 screws at the top, at the bottom & at the slip joint

Ok, I'm gonna need between 3-6" so as long as it can move between those measurements I'm ok with it.

This pipe will connect to the elbows correct?

I got a voice mail from Duravent who said this pipe will not connect to the elbows and will only connect to ridged pipe. Thought this was weird and didn't make sense to me.

I think the employee miss understood me so I'll call them back today to confirm what she said.

Doesn't make sense for this pipe to have a different connection then the rest of their product line....

How big is the slip connection? The smallest piece of pipe besides the adjustable is 6" that I've seen.

My issue is I need to use 2, 45 degree elbows to go around a header in the ceiling and the 6" pipe between the elbows gives me 16.5" of rise with the needed 8.75" offset.

After the 8" from the support box, chimney adapter and then the series of elbows and pipe between them, I have 28" of space left between the stove top and pipe. I then have to put a 4" adapter from the stove up so I'm looking at 24- 26" or so of space to fill.

It looks like the smallest the DVL telescoping pipe goes is 29".

I'm thinking I'll have to put the adjustable pipe above a section of 24" of ridged pipe which will connect to the stove pipe adapter. The adjustable pipe will then attach to the bottom elbow, then the 6" pipe, next elbow up to the chimney adapter, then support box and up to the chimney.

Any opinions or other options I'm not seeing here?

I'm in the planning stages of my install. I have a drawing that I've made but no stove yet.

I'm trying to get my ducks in a row before hand this way I'll be ready to throw it all together in one shot once I'm ready.

Does anyone know how tall the adapter sits above the stove for a DVL pipe once it's installed? (I'm looking at getting a BK Ashford this summer) The last plan might do but with an 18" pipe then the adjustable pipe above it.

Ok, here's the drawing I've made of my stove install. This is a side view of the plan, which is proportional to the actual measurements of the stove, alcove and clearances. The spot where I was hoping I could install the adjustable pipe was between the elbows. If I can't, then I'll put it below the bottom elbow, use a 6" ridged pipe piece between the elbows, and then use an 18" pipe off of the stove adapter with the adjustable piece right above that, just below the bottom elbow to make my adjustments.

Think this will work?

First, make sure you need the 4" adapter. On our stove the DVL pipe fits nice and snugly on the flue collar with no adapter. Also, what is the second 3", right above the top elbow? That doesn't seem accurate. We don't have it on either support box. Make sure the drawing is accurate for DuraVent piping. If you don't need the adapter and that 3" is superfluous, the drawing could be off by 7" FYI, note that M& G also makes a 6-12" adjustable section.

There are two chimney pipe adapters for Duravent. One is a flat piece with the interior stainless steel piece and the other has the same inner stainless steel chimney adapter with a piece of DVL that hangs down 3" below the support box.

That's the piece that is drawn into my photo.

I'll call Blaze King to verify if an adapter is needed.

Here is a flat chimney adapter for dura black that also works with DVL pipe I guess.

Understood. We have the close adapters on our DuraVent systems. Haven't used the larger adapter with the 3" extension yet.

Called Blaze King today and they said all of their stoves require an adapter to
connect the stove pipe to the flue collar.

So I guess I'm going to have to use an 18" pipe and then finish it off with an adjustable piece between it and the bottom elbow.
