Thanks all of you for helping me through my install and newbie questions!
My stove is working great. Question: When you turn air down (for the night, say) do you still get good flames? Or do the flames go way down? I don't have that much room for wood in this firebox, but I do want to maximize burn times. The stove seems quite enthusiastic, even when I turn air all the way down, assuming I have a hot bed of coals before adding wood. Maybe this is normal? I haven't tried stuffing the box all I can, I guess because I don't yet have the experience and confidence that I will be able to control the fire by turning the air down -- but I have put for example a pair of good sized splits in it, there wouldn't be room for another good sized one -- although I am using 16"'s. I understand I won't be getting all night fires, but what should I reasonably expect from this stove, and how can I achieve that? The flue is straight up, 19.5 feet. Oh, one more thing: I'm still not good at identification. My wood is mixed. But I know that oak is heavier.
Thanks again!
