airlock on water stove?

I've read on this forum that pressurized systems are less susceptible to corrosion than open air systems. I mentioned that to someone else and he asked if an airlock (more or less like what are used for fermenting beer/wine/etc.) could be used on a non-pressurized water stove to help prevent corrosion. What do you think?
