I have a old fireplace bump out and a wood framed fireplace chase on the outside of the house. The fireplace was removed by previous owners so I decided to make it a alcove for my wood burning stove. I installed steel half channel across 2x4 Framing to create air gap then covered it with 1/2 durarock. The top I framed it out of all steel studs then again covered that as well with durarock. Plan was to install stone veneer over all the alcove that but I’m beginning to wonder if the height of the top is going to be a issue. Any input would be great

I have duravent plus for the chimney section and duravent double wall for the connection to the stove.

18” side clearance
12” back clearance
18” top to top clearance (stove is about half in half out of alcove)

What does the install manual specify for alcove installations?
That's your bible.

as it shows it says 61” to combustible. As I mentioned I framed the top of the alcove with all steel studs. I am at 58” to the Durarock. I know I cheated on the 61” by a few inches... my family suffered a house fire here in December of 2017 due to a outside GFI outlet so I’m just trying to make sure everything is safe
Thanks

Here is a pic of the framing that is there before Sheetrock and before I cut in the alcove. The old fireplace chimney was still in the chase from the previous owner.

SIDE NOTE I have about 14’ of triple pipe Ibelieve made by Martin Corp. looking to sell it
