EEEWW MAN I HATE TICKS! Thank God they found what was wrong, scary stuff there. Hard to believe a little bug like that can do that kind of damage in two days!
That's a pretty amazing story.
Ya know, bee stings hurt bad but people seem to freak out over ticks for some reason more than bee stings. Ticks don't bother me too much. Our friends in Va. have them all the time and it is just a part of living down there. I don't think they have Lyme's disease carrying ticks down there like up here in New England.

If they have deer ticks, they have Lyme. All ticks carry some form of disease or another. I just can't understand their place on the food chain!
I guess that makes them higher on the chain if they pursue us...that's not right. Never seen a tick I wanted to eat.

Search for tick borne illnesses and you'll see Lyme is one of many and they occur all over the country. Yuck.
I hate ticks and my heart goes out to that little girl and her family. Unfortunately washing the kids every day won't dislodge a tick, and sometimes they are too tiny to see at first, especially in a mass of dark hair (ask me, I have 2 big black dogs...).

I hear ya' (we've got a newfie too), and just took one off her jowl a couple days ago. Disgusting little bastages.

Just started the dog on Doxy and Rimidyl for lyme. We use frontline+ for 12 months and vaccinate him for lyme each year. Vet says some still get it.

Frontline does not work around here. Was ok in MA bit in CT we had ticks by the dozen. Switched to Vectra, no more ticks on dogs.

I hate ticks, and I find them daily on my dogs or myself. I would say they don't bug me, but after I find one, any slight itch is obviously a tick crawling on me... or not

Last one I found one just crawling on my forearm, and I STILL think every little itch has GOT to be a tick. !!
Been walking around the yard the last couple days in shorts (easier than lifting my pants leg) checking for ticks every few minutes and have not seen any.

They're way more active in the spring and fall weather.

And I thought deer and wood ticks were bad.
One bout with Lyme disease was enough to knock me on my keister. By the way, my GP says I will always test positive for Lyme, sooo...how do you know you've got it again?

You feel like crap again. Have a friend that got it before treatment became better understood. She is laid up - bedridden - a few weeks each year. Takes doxy continually.

We have many ticks here, walk outside and unless you are on concreate and in the middle of a parking lot you are going to get a tick on you.
Walk under a tree and they will drop on you from above. Walk through some grass that is not cut within mms of the ground and they will cover your shoes. Even walk out of your house and one or two may be waiting above your doorway.
