It does look like original paint on the top......... That's about where it ends.

I suppose a lot of unfired stoves sit around and get fancied up with highlighted silver. Don't know what to think of painting the stainless spring handles and ball feet. That ain't right.
So there's a lot of paint where it doesn't belong, and an unpainted ash fender that hasn't rusted????? That is unique. Oh, but it still has the "new" gasket. ;hm

It may have never been fired, the picture doesn't prove that. But it sure was repainted.

Meanwhile, a new one was painted like this; They were dull (this one Satin Black)

Grandpa 12-3-12 Ma 1.jpg Grandpa 12-3-12 Ma 3.jpg And NOT painted on the inside. (notice painted brick retainers)

Grandpa 12-3-12 Ma 2.jpg But that's the look of "new".

Here IS a new stove; No sheen and soft unfired paint.

Inside shows proof of zero mileage ! I do polish the inside with Maas metal polish that leaves a preventive film.

XL 5.jpg That is what they look like "out of the box".
(with the brick still IN the box)
