Anyone debate between buying xxv or p61

Can't go wrong. I chose the 61 over xxv because i wanted to be sure I could heat my whole house and I like the radiant heat. Also, the 61 is a bit less expensive. I know a few people that have the xxv and they love it.

Ya the family room is about 12 x 22- and kinda opens up to the foyer but it's not totally opened, so i'm debating between 50,000 BTU's and the 61,000

Xxv probably won't heat the whole house. If you're just using it to supplement, though, you'll be all set. If you want to heat the whole house might want to look at p68. Same footprint as the 61 just a few inches taller.

the 68 is definitely too big. Putting the stove in the left hand top corner of the family room.
