Hey guys. I wanted to ask around to see if anyone anyone in Somerset, PA area is on the hunt for a Drolet Heat Commander? We bought it last year and had it installed in our A frame house. It’s an awesome wood furnace. I mean honestly. It’s spectacular. But it’s way too big for our house. We spent the entire winter on the top of Laurel Mountain sweating. Our house really isn’t a good candidate for a wood furnace like this. Our whole house has a very open floor plan with only 3 vents in the whole house going to the upper level. The furnace is located in our walkout basement.

Anyway, we’re having our chimney re-done this year and we have decided to dump the Drolet Heat Commander. It’s just too big for our house. We’re going to replace it with a Regency wood burner that will be a much better fit for our house. The new wood burner has already been ordered. I need to get rid of the Drolet by May. I’ve tried to put some ads online for it. But doesn’t seem like anyone wants it.

It’s a new furnace. It’s only been burned in for the 2021-2022 heating season. It’s in great condition. I’ve been asking $3,000 for it. Drolet want’s $5k for it now on their website plus freight charges of $500. I’m just wondering if anyone on the forums might be in the market for a new Drolet Heat Commander? I’ve got to dump it by May. And I’m afraid I might be stuck with it. I bought it in July of 2021.

I am sorry and surprised that this was recommended, though maybe not. Someone suggested putting this furnace in a similar house. It was oversized and overkill for there also, not to mention ugly on that nice hearth. There are better solutions.

You can put an ad for this in the Hearth.com classified forum. I am moving this to the boiler and furnace room. Good luck.

Sorry OP but I would not have that in my living room.
