Started up our pellet stove for the first time since this past winter. We have it set on a thermostat. When set on either setting 3 or 4, it reaches the temperature for the stove to shut down. When it calls for heat, the ash pan fills with pellets but will not re-light. Can anyone help with why this may be happening?

Few more details needed. Make, model, last time cleaned, fresh pellets, how old of stove. Welcome

It is a Magnum Baby Countryside pellet stove. It was cleaned just before use. The pellets are what were left in the stove from last year. Not sure how old the stove is, we bought it used, but used it last year.

Since we never thought about the fact that it could be the "old" pellets, we will clean out and put the new ones in and see if that corrects it.

However, if you have any other suggests beside that, let me know.

Thanks!

I think Don had a details of what needed to be done to that stove to clean it properly. A modification that allows one to blow air into the stoves upper exchanger to clean it better to keep it breathing properly.
