Ash Removal

I am sure this has been covered many times, but for some reason ANY search I try here comes back with topic not found and then wont let me go back (caught in a closed loop).

Anyway, is there a good method of removing ashes such that dust doesnt go all over the room. Trying to remove this very gingerly with a long sover and have the can right next to the door, but and slight movement and this as is floating all over the place..

Is there a good way (or system) that will alllow for a better removal?

If there is an updraft the ash has a tendency to go up the stack.
