I am assisting a friend who has an Avalon Cedar EF gas stove. It was purchased in 2003, and had some replacement parts installed a few years ago. The model number on the bill of sale is Cedar DVS-FS.
During a recent thunderstorm, it turned on and off several times by itself. The manual switch was off, but the gas was on. I think this is probably the result of a nearby lightning strike, creating an induced current in the starter circuit. When she told me about it, I instructed her to turn the gas off, so it is temporarily not a problem.
Any thoughts on a solution? Does it need parts replaced? Would shielding the circuits be of use?
Thanks,
Rick
