Help I've been an owner of an Avalon Astoria for approx 8 yeas ran great but now it seems like there's to much air even with the restricter closed fire still burning out I use it mostly on the 2 nd low setting with no problem also the combustion box were the fan mounts gets hotter than I like but the stove never goes into fault mode ( the stove is clean the exhaust is clean I'm think maybe the motor is slowing down. Any help much appreciated tnx in advance. Ps the stove is a 2007

I do not own this stove nor do I know anything about it. However, it sounds like the air is coming in from another place and the restricter has no influence on it. Check the other places air can make its way in. Check the door adjustment and gasket to make sure it is not coming in there. Make sure the firebox is seated right. Make sure the cover plates on the exhaust ducts are in the proper place. Check and replace all gaskets as I think you will find one or more may be a reused gasket. Really go through the stove where air may seep in. As far as the fan getting too hot, if it is 8 plus years old it may be time for a new one. They get all gunked up with fines and such which causes them to bind up the fan components.
Do this stuff one at a time until the problems is found, That way there you can figure out the cause. Don't forget to post back your results. Oh by the way Welcome aboard.

Ok it took a while but I finally changed all gaskets including door gasket with no change the stove runs fine just too much air if I run it on medium it's ok on low fire keeps blowing out very confused..... Does any thing control the speed of the exhaust motor?
Did it start happening with a change in pellets?
Certain size ranges of pellets won't burn long enough in the pot on the lowest setting and the fire has a tendency to snuff itself out. I also find that running the convection blower on the lowest setting when I have the burn set on the lowest helps to keep the fire from going out but that doesn't always work.
Make sure your ash drawer is pushed all the way in. The "minimum combustion air" hole draws from the ash drawer area. If the drawer isn't all the way in, too much air can get into the stove on the lowest setting, combine that with certain batches of pellets and the stove won't stay lit.
