Just had my Harman Accentra insert installed on sat....so far there was chips and stratches on it, the door wasnt working. We had them come out and fix it and thought that would be the end of it. Nope the gasket melted and welded the door shut and when my husband got it open a hunk of the gasket came off. Its been one issue after another and Im thinking I got either a bad product. Im talking to the the dealership now and Im wondering if I got a lemon stove or is this normal? They said they would replace the gasket but Im still not happy about replacing something after one burn. People advice and experiences are welcome on this. This was a huge investment and Im far from happy.
 
Give the dealer a chance to repair it. It's only a gaskets. It's not like it's a mechanical issue that may be difficult to repair. I replaced my accentra gasket last year bc or was starting to have a gap where it was joined together. No big deal.
 
Yeah I would give the dealer a shot once they get things going you will love it had mine installed in June and love it. I feel with something brand new there are more chances of problems than a used proven one let them work out the kinks your dealer will find the solution quickly he/she I'm sure is busy this time of year so if that stove is a Lemmon they will eventually decide to replace it themselves after exhausting every angle sevice calls on a new stove cost them money so they will I'm sure get things going smoothly for you quick.
 
Yea I wouldn't sweat it, mistakes happen it's human, and I'm sure with that big of an investment your dealer will make right with you! If a gasket is all the problem u have to deal with, your golden easy fix, you'll appreciate a proper working stove 3 months from now I promise!
 
Agree with everybody else.Let the dealer fix it.gasket is minor.before I bought my harman I bought a used stove that had major mechanical problems.damper didn't wrk had a few chimney fires wouldn't stay lit.problem after problem . I did a good amount ofresearch .traded it out and .knock on wood I love my harman.
 
For me a brand new Harmon with chips and scratches is totally unacceptable. Harmon is supposed to be the Cadillac of stoves, the most expensive stoves on the market and supposedly according to the Harmon dealers, there is no better pellet stove made. Plus a gasket melting on the very first burn? I would not have the Dealer fix it, I would demand the Dealer replace it with a new one free of nicks and scratches. After all you paid big bucks for one of the best built stoves on the market, you should get one without a mark on it. You wouldn't buy a brand new car and accept it full of nicks and scratches would you? My suggestion, have the Dealer give you a brand new one at no cost to you. I don't buy into this business of give the Dealer a chance and let him fix it, I say let him give you the stove you should have gotten to begin with. If it fails on the first burn it's defective and needs replaced.
 
Have them replace,the stove with a new one! Chips and scratches, even if at the hand of the installer is unacceptable. I may be suspect of the dealer if they were also the ones who did the install. Then to have the door weld to the unit somehow? No way. Get a new one and you'll love it!

Unless the stove left the plant with scratches and nicks then it has nothing to do with Harman, the stove may have been rough handled in transport or at the dealer's shop, but I partly agree with you, get another stove.
 
Hello

I bought two used Harmans so all my chips and scratches were free considering the price. :-) Then I just repainted them to be like new for $20 worth of paint.

We just got our Accentra installed last weekend. No noticeable scratches, but the stove came with a can of black stove paint. I agree with others, for the price you paid for this in should be in EXCELLENT running order.
 
Stoves come with a warranty for a reason, let the dealer do their job and fix it, cars aren't swapped out willy nilly, they have mechanics fix them when they have warranty issues and cars being scratched is totally different than a stove, the scratches on a painted stove is not a big deal, tons of stoves come with a scratches and dealers touch them up all the time, it really isn't a big deal, they come with touch up paint for a reason and used properly no one can ever tell it was touched up. If it is scratches or chips on an enamel stove then that is something totally different and more like getting a scratched car and you could possibly be looking at having stuff replaced.
 
Harman has done a great job of keeping their brand at the top. Essentially, that is HHT's job...protecting a well established brand for the profits of their mother company, HNI. They are a marketing engine to insure it's brands. Dane did a great job at engineering a product which was largely proprietary and worked very well on the consumer level. HHT isn't the best in my opinion at bringing products to market. Look at that Mt Vernon AE...nightmare. Accentra 52i, kind of a nightmare.

If you bought in to the "Harman is the Cadillac of Stoves" therefore I should not have problems, look deeper into your metaphor....everything has problems. Personally I'd never buy a Cadillac as a luxury car.

In a lot of ways I still do, but there are other options and some of them do have a better fit and finish but none of that means anything if the folks in charge of delivery are incompetent. Chips? Dings? Sticking gaskets? Gosh darn it...doesn't anyone inspect a stove and check it out prior to delivery? I do. That's how I justify charging list.

Wonder if it was dropped or tipped over in transit somewhere, resulting in the chips, scratches and the door issue.

I know there are lemon laws. there are nationwide lemon laws and state lemon laws for cars in America, but I know for Ohio it is three unsuccessful repair attempts for the same issue by an authorized repair center before you can get a new car for free, they do swap out cars, but it isn't done before giving them a chance to make it right.

What????? I'd like to know what Chinese guy wrote made in the USA all over the parts in my harman wasn't aware of this

Yes - Harman's thankfully are made in the good ol' US of A ! (just like my Passat Turbo Diesel and my former Honda Accord - go figure)

Lena I just want to assure u that harman will get you stratined out is the best stove on the market let us know how your progressing to get things going and were here to help answer any of your questions

I am old enough to remember folks used to mock the "made in Japan" label on manufactured goods as well as their cars. Look where we are now as I stare my "made in Japan" truck and car in the driveway. They give me no trouble but that cannot be said for the German (Mini Clubman) I also have in the driveway. :eek:

I had my harman 52i installed last Columbus Day and had similar issues with the door gasket sticking and they had scratched it a little on install and even had a little smoke smell and I was thinking I made a big mistake selling my sante Fe insert which never gave me any problems.I was upset also.They came back and fixed everything and I could not be happier with this stove. It takes a little while to learn what settings to run it on and there are a few cleaning tricks to learn,
but this is an excellent stove and really throws the heat and is pretty easy on the pellet consumption . There is so many different ways to run this stove. Give it a chance, get them back to fix everything , the stove will pay for it self sooner then you think. After this winter you will be glad you bought it.Hang in there.
