Basic Non-Cat Solid Stove Insert

Hey everyone,

I am looking to get a new wood stove insert for my existing fireplace. Firebox is tapered but has decent height and depth. I'd like to get a non-cat no frills solid wood burning insert from a local supplier in NJ area who can handle purchase and install. Ideally I'd like the stove to come out a bit for a cooktop and to help heat emanate throughout the room without having to rely on a blower. This stove is for power outages, offset the heating bill, and overall ambiance. I am looking at a Regency i2450, but was wondering if that is a solid choice or if any other options are better.

With whatever you get, try to get one that has an ash lip to catch ash, you’ll thank me later. For stove shop installs, I would ask them their thoughts on insulating liner. It’s a good test question to see their knowledge/diligence. If the say the insulation not needed, go to a different dealer .
