So we got our first bear on the trail camera about a week and a half ago and it's been fairly regular since. The bobcat has been a regular visitor since we put the camera up. Thursday I worked inside and right at mid day 2 yearling bears went past the camera, but no sow. Today coming home from town as I was slowing down for the driveway my wife said " there's a dead bear behind the tree's". We changed and walked up there and sure enough... Called the sheriff and it was a vehicle collision. Think it might be the momma that belonged with the yearlings. They should be big enough to get along, but probably not smart enough to stay out of trouble...

A few have been spotted around here, with 95% snow cover not sure how well they’ll do. Over the winter the dogs have found 3 deer kill sites, I’ll be keeping an eye out around those sites!

Since your location is "Hodag Country," I'll assume that you're in my home state of WI...so these are likely black bears.

It's pretty normal for yearlings to be on their own. Usually momma mates again and they are chased away. I think that brown bears stay an extra year, but my knowledge of bears is pretty limited to black bears.
